Box Card in a box

This week I have been making a box card for the 13th birthday of a close friends daughter later this month.

She has recently taken up cross stitch so I wanted to include that in the design.

This is what I came up with.

The box
Made from A3 cardstock, Ribbon from stash, Label cut using
Sissix Labels Ornate Framelits die.
Coloured using Stampin Up Rich Razzlebury inkpad, stamped with same with
Flower stamp and dragonfly coming from IndigoBlu freebie magazine set and
the Alphabet a Stampin up set.

The Box Card and Box
The 13 is Cross stitched on plastic canvas
The Dolphin cross stitch is there because she went swimming with
dolphins on holiday a couple of years ago and was a magazine freebie from 6-7 years ago.

Embossed panels are made using core'dinations cardstock
and embossed with Design Objectives folders
Used Stampin Up Strawberry Blush inkpad for distressing
and stamping of flowers which are using Stampin Up Petite Petals
stamps and punch.

Butterflies were cut using Spellbinders shapeabilities Les Papillion's dies and
 Stampin up Strawberry Blush cardstock.
Gems from stash.

Quicker this time LOL

Yay I'm back already.

Been a busy couple of weeks as have been through a Voluntary Exit exercise recently at work and that means a lot of leaving cards for those who have taken the plunge and jumped ship.

Here is a selection of the cards I have made:

The white sunflowers are created using versamark pad and clear embossing powder,
I then brayed background colour before stamping the terracotta sunflower in the middle.
Wiped off ink from top of embossed area.
Butterfly cut from Spellbinders dies with a parchment base layer. Flat backed pearls used for body.

The background was made from 3 stamps.
One came with a magazine (IndigoBlu) and the other ones a set by Inkadinkadoo.
Stamped using Stampin Up ink which is in same colour as white card was layered onto.
Spellbinders dies for the central labels and a Stampin Up Butterfly stamped onto Shrink Plastic
and coloured using Promarkers.

Water coloured various Stampin Up inks onto the background to make the sky and ground.
Then stamped using a WOW stamp and one from Sheena Douglas to add the detail of tree and flowers.  The Frame and label (Sissix die) were made from Stampin Up papers which have embossed pattern which I then distressed with ink.

This was made using a map of UK I downloaded from the web which was distressed.
Then stamped out goose onto white and coloured to look like a Brent goose.
That was from Stampin Up's Wetland set as are the stamps used on the label.
The Tern in top left corner was taken off the web.
This person was going to live on the Skerries (off Anglesey) as a bird warden for the summer.

This is another one made with Stampin Up stamps and inks.
Used Martha Stewart punch for edge and added ribbon behind it.

Hope you have liked what you have seen.
Thanks for visiting.

Mini Albums - Stampin up

I went away with my bestest in April to a Craft Retreat.  There were 15 of us sharing a lovely farmhouse between Stratford upon Avon and Birmingham for the weekend.  A fantastic group of girls who we had befriended on Facebook who are all into various crafts but majoring on papercraft.

A few provided 'classes' for us to do, just charging for materials.

One of these was a Mini Album made using Stampin Up papers.

Well this was a really good session which lasted over half the day.

Below are pic's of the Album I made there using Fan Fare papers.

As you can see it is a concertina album.  One of my friends from work liked it very much and asked me to make her one.  I decided as she liked this one so much I would let her have the original.  She has since put in an order for another using a different set of papers so below are pics of the second one I made for her using Stampin Up papers - Birds of a Feather.

So thank you very much to Carole Wood who showed us how to make these.  I have a feeling I will be making plenty more :)

CD Sunday Challenge 10 March 2013

This weeks challenge on the CD Sunday blog was Land of the Pharaohs.

For this I choose to use Joanna Sheen's Egyptian Adventure CD.

Once I had decided on the image and background paper I found a stepper card blank and used the backing paper to line the steps. I then layered the image onto some Gold Mirri card and then decided it needed a border.  So back to the cd and I found it in one of the decoupage pages, I had to resize it so took a snapshot of it and put into Word to enlarge.

I decided on a Bon Voyage card because it seemed appropriate for the image I used.  So I matted up some Gold mirri card and some pale peach card for a label and used peel off letters to make the message.  I then remembered I had some papyrus so used this on the bottom of the card to add a little texture.

Hope you like it.

Spring is in the Air - CD Sunday Challenge

Hello everyone.  This weeks CD Sunday Challenge is Spring is in the air.

So with the days lengthening and snowdrops coming out I went looking for an appropriate image and good old La Pashe came up thumps.

The following image is from the Best of 2012 CD, backing papers are from Just Inklined.

I decided on a twisted easel as this was a square image.  I have used one backing paper on the base and a different one on the Easel.  I then layered the image up on some more of the base background and attached to the card. The greeting is from the same sheet as the image.  I found some fabric flowers and used with a crystal bead - coloured with promarkers to match the flower - as a centre.

Thanks for looking.

CD Sunday Challenge - On your Bike!

Well Hello.  Yes this is three weeks in succession - getting good at this.  This weeks CD Sunday Challenge is On your Bike!

Well my Bestest's hubby is doing the London to Southend Bike Ride this June for the British Heart Foundation so I thought I would do him a Good Luck card.

The images are taken from MCS - Papercraft Library Volume 6 - Men-y Happy Returns.  So after I had picked out the image and a frame, tile etc I printed them off 3 times and cut out the various parts as I wanted them.  I then took a piece of White Pearl cardstock and folder into A5 card. I found an odd sheet of brown core-ordinations and embossed this with brick design (Tim Holtz embossing folder), sanded and cut to size. I then attached the design with DS tape where I wanted it on the embossed card and attached 4 eyelets and put some elastic though to look like it is being held on by that. This was then attached to the front of the card and the other layers applied with silicone.
